SEGMENTED
(Faster cutting)
SOLID CROWN
(Strongest construction)
Diamond Core Bits made from individual one inch long segments, each silver soldered into a notch for maximum strength.
Advantage: Each individual segment is uniform in hardness and Diamond concentration, giving an excellent penetration rate and uniform performance through-out the life of the bit. Note: An additional advantage for the advanced user, is the ability to change the number of segments to match drilling conditions.
Diamond Core Bits made with a single piece crown bonded directly to the end of the tube.
Advantage: Very strong, excellent in those tough applications (like corrugated sheet metal pan floors, prestressed plank, those situations where drilling into the sub base is required...). Best bit for the novice driller and for the professionals with high horsepower core drills. Note: Available in both ribbed (normal) and non-ribbed (for highly abrasive conditions) design.

Standard Quality:

  • Lowest initial cost.
  • Fast cutting in all aggregate concretes.
  • Use where little rebar is present...
  • Excellent in masonry, stone and tile.

Supreme Quality:

  • Higher Diamond content.
  • Lower drilling cost per foot.
  • Faster cutting.
  • General purpose Diamond Core bit.

Pro Quality:

  • Highest Diamond content.
  • Lowest drilling cost per foot.
  • Longest life and fastest cutting.
  • Best for rebar and small diameter bits.

Concrete Bridges, Columns, Piers
Heavily reinforced concrete
Concrete pavement made with Portland cement is usually hard and dense after curing and normally does not produced an abrasive slurry when being drilled. A softer matrix is desirable because it allows the diamonds to be exposed which achieves a faster penetration rate. When ordering specify a (EX-10) hard concrete matrix.
Heavily reinforced concrete structures are strong, dense and hard, requiring a fast cutting diamond bit set with the highest concentration of the strongest diamonds and a tough matrix designed for the high steel environment. Providing fast penetration in both steel and concrete. When ordering specify a (ESX) matrix.

EX-20 Cured concrete with medium hard aggregate
EX-30 Cured concrete with abrasive, soft aggregate

Combination
Asphalt / Concrete
Asphalt
When you need to use the same Diamond bit to drill both concrete and asphalt, or when drilling asphalt over concrete, a combination matrix is recommended. Having superior abrasive resistance over a normal concrete matrix and still able to to give good performance in concrete. When ordering specify a (EX-40) combination matrix.
When drilling asphalt pavement a very abrasive slurry is created which erodes the matrix holding the diamonds in place. Therefore an abrasive resistant matrix should be used to prevent diamond loss. When ordering specify an (EX-50) asphalt matrix.
